  6. Made In Wonderland:- Live Review, 11/10/13

Awesome review by Get Your Rock Out for Made In Wonderland's show at The Star and Garter, Manchester, in support of Falling Red and New Device on their UK co-headline tour, with Trashstars as local support…

“After experiencing the raw sound of Trashstars, Made in Wonderland were an excellent follow-up. Taking on a more of a Hard Rock feel, the band sound like an ironic mix of Alter Bridge and Guns N’ Roses thrown into a blender.

These guys were definitely the highlight of the night for me, purely because they surprised me- in an awesome way.

Vocalist Craig looks quite young at first glance, but this gave the crowd no reason not to take him seriously, especially when he began singing opening track ‘Twisted Lover’, which resembles the likes of Wolfmother. I heard later that the band were nervous playing this song as it was their first time performing it live, but it sounded like they’d been playing it for years.

Glancing at bassist Derm’s jacket (heavily patched with Guns N’ Roses patches) we can see that the band are strongly influenced by Guns N’ Roses, and this is reflected within their songs and live performance.

Vocalist Craig holds the mic stand in Axl’s signature style, whilst slamming his foot against the ground. At the end of the catchy ‘Take Your Last Orders’ Craig lets out a ‘wo-ah’, in which he impressively bends his voice in same way as Axl Rose.

They finish their set with the appropriate ‘Get Sleazy’. Containing typical Glam lyrics, it was easy to pick up and sing along to: “Wo-ah, just tease me, wo-ah get sleazy”. This had an excellent response from the crowd, who were clapping along.

Made In Wonderland are a band which I would definitely recommend. They sounded tight, professional and had an excellent stage presence.”

  7. To finish off a busy few days last week I managed to be front row for Soundgarden @ O2 Apollo, Manchester! They were amazing!! Support came from Graveyard who were very strange indeed…

  8. Had a brilliant time in London last week. Met a lot of very friendly and talented people and had a good few hours shopping before watching my good friends The Jokers play the show of their lives at The Borderline. It was surprisingly rammed, especially for a Tuesday night and they stole the show! The Wild Lies kicked things off and I was quite impressed with the vocalist’s range and style. Sons Of Icarus closed the proceedings with a decent set, but a lot of their songs sounded the same and went straight over my head.

It was very surreal to share a cramped mini-bus with a bunch of fans of The Jokers, and then have the bass player from Hayseed Dixie (who must be at least 6”4) sit opposite me trying to squeeze his legs in comfortably enough to sleep, but definitely a great experience I’ll remember for a long time to come :)
