Awesome review by Get Your Rock Out for Made In Wonderland's show at The Star and Garter, Manchester, in support of Falling Red and New Device on their UK co-headline tour, with Trashstars as local support…
“After experiencing the raw sound of Trashstars, Made in Wonderland were an excellent follow-up. Taking on a more of a Hard Rock feel, the band sound like an ironic mix of Alter Bridge and Guns N’ Roses thrown into a blender.
These guys were definitely the highlight of the night for me, purely because they surprised me- in an awesome way.
Vocalist Craig looks quite young at first glance, but this gave the crowd no reason not to take him seriously, especially when he began singing opening track ‘Twisted Lover’, which resembles the likes of Wolfmother. I heard later that the band were nervous playing this song as it was their first time performing it live, but it sounded like they’d been playing it for years.
Glancing at bassist Derm’s jacket (heavily patched with Guns N’ Roses patches) we can see that the band are strongly influenced by Guns N’ Roses, and this is reflected within their songs and live performance.
Vocalist Craig holds the mic stand in Axl’s signature style, whilst slamming his foot against the ground. At the end of the catchy ‘Take Your Last Orders’ Craig lets out a ‘wo-ah’, in which he impressively bends his voice in same way as Axl Rose.
They finish their set with the appropriate ‘Get Sleazy’. Containing typical Glam lyrics, it was easy to pick up and sing along to: “Wo-ah, just tease me, wo-ah get sleazy”. This had an excellent response from the crowd, who were clapping along.
Made In Wonderland are a band which I would definitely recommend. They sounded tight, professional and had an excellent stage presence.”
